Over the years that Schools 4 Schools has been working in The Gambia we have always tried to support the local economy surrounding the areas in which we work.



In 2009 we were able to build lodge accommodation at the Taibatou site where we have based our local office.

As our donors grew it became apparent that others wanted to not only visit to see how their money was being spent but also wanted to assist by providing essential expertise in the form of teaching, medical assistance and sometimes simply labour despite the problems of working in extreme temperatures.



Rather than these individuals having to stay in expensive coastal hotels the option was open to stay in the lodges which are spotlessly clean, have flushing toilets and showers albeit power is limited.
