Whenever you hear a child say he doesn’t want to go to school, don’t get upset. Just be grateful that he has a choice. For many children in poorer countries there is no choice – there is no school.
Schools 4 Schools are determined to change that.
Set up to foster relationships between children throughout the world, Schools 4 Schools are working to:
- provide libraries, schools, materials, support and human resources in poorer areas of the world to give disadvantaged children a basic education
- raise awareness among children in the UK of the possibilities open to them and encourage them to make the most of their opportunities
- improve communication between children, helping them to help each other by twinning UK schools with those in impoverished countries around the world

Concentrating on small, specifically funded projects Schools 4 Schools make a visible difference to the lives of thousands of children. Their successes include:
- building a ‘soup kitchen’ in Khayelitsha, South Africa that provides breakfast, lunch and dinner to over 250 children, seven days a week
- Building Toilets and a kitchen and dining room for the children of the JamWelly School in The Gambia and setting up a feeding program so that the children all get at least one meal per day.
- Building a school from scratch at Taibatou village in The Gambia to educate 47 children who would not have be able to go to school without our help.
- Funding a project for a teaching plantation in The Gambia to show other schools and children how to grow a new vegetable called cassava which could replace the very expensive rice as the staple diet.
- funding education for orphaned Tibetan children displaced into Dharamsala, India
- twinning schools in Westminster, Milton Keynes and London in the UK with schools in South Africa and The Gambia for mutually creative projects
By working closely with people in the local communities, the charity can ensure that the money raised is spent where and when it is most needed.
